Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: General medical-surgical
experience; may care for general pediatric patients Description: We
are seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical unit. The
unit consists of 19 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratios are a maximum
of 1 RN to 4-5 patients on days and 1 RN to 5 patients on nights.
Infrequent titration of drips is expected. Common titratable and/or
set rate drips include Heparin and Bumex. Charge Nurse and House
Supervisor are available on both day and night shifts. There are
1-3 nursing assistants on day shift and 1 on night shift.
Respiratory equipment available includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high
flow. Telemetry is monitored by CCU staff, and the telemetry board
is visible to med-surg staff. Shifts are nights from 1900 to 0730.
Weekend requirement is every other weekend. Holiday requirement is
negotiable. If placed on low census, the nurse is expected to
report within 30 minutes of call. RNs not fully cross-trained to
other departments are expected to assist if floating. Scrub color
is navy blue. Additional orientation may be required based on
individual need. This position offers great staffing ratios, with
RNs typically having less than the maximum number of patients.
