Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ED - Emergency Department - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 02/23/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a high-acuity, large-volume setting requiring strong critical care and pediatric emergency skills. Responsibilities - Position is in a busy Emergency Department within a level III trauma center - Patient population includes neonate to geriatric, with both medical and trauma pediatric cases - Handles stroke (TPA), cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health, and substance use disorder patients - Patient ratios typically 1:3-5 depending on acuity, with zones including a 13-bed fast track 'green zone' - Department sees 250–300 ED patients per day across 34 ED beds - 12-hour night shift position; may require weekend rotations including potential back-to-back weekends - Uses EPIC EMR, experience strongly preferred - No floating or on-call responsibilities - Flexible shift times may be required - Role involves managing high-acuity emergency and trauma cases and caring for behavioral health and substance use disorder patients - Staff expected to work within zones, including a fast track for lower-acuity patients - Scrubs of any color are permitted as long as there are no logos - All candidates must be able to pass the facility’s triage competency test prior to triage assignments - Weekend rotation is every other weekend, and flexibility with scheduling is expected - First-time travelers will not be considered for this position Requirements - Current WA RN or compact RN license required - Minimum 3 years of experience in a large-volume, high-acuity ED required - Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and either PALS or ENPC, as well as TNCC required - Strong emergency nursing skills in critical care and pediatric patients including experience with chest tubes, arterial lines, blood administration, Bipap/ventilators, medication drips, splinting, and barcode scanning medication administration - Triage experience required; must pass hospital's Triage Test before triage is allowed - Ability to assist with trauma and code cases, set up chest tubes and art lines - Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferred - Good understanding of ESI necessary - Experience with managing medication drips required - Must provide professional references from a supervisor or above Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-664423.
