Type: Public School District Setting: School – Special Education –
Student Support Services Location: Kennewick, WA Work Arrangement
and Hours Per Week: In Person – 32.5 Hours per Week Dates:
2025–2026 School Year Age Range of Students: 1:1 Support – Middle
School Student Experience: Required fluency in American Sign
Language and current school-based experience as an Educational
Interpreter (ASL) supporting students who are Deaf and Hard of
Hearing Educational Interpreter (ASL) – Qualifications and
Responsibilities: Demonstrate fluency in American Sign Language to
interpret and communicate effectively with the student and staff
Interpret sign language for deaf students and voice for the student
when needed Facilitate communication and educational access for
deaf and hard of hearing student(s) Perform non-instructional
signing activities; convert voice to sign language and vice versa
Provide specially designed instruction as needed Execute accurate,
timely, impartial, and effective signing, including strong
receptive skills to understand rapidly signed communication Apply
principles, practices, and techniques of interpreting for deaf and
hard of hearing individuals Utilize educational interpreting
vocabulary and concepts in a school setting License - Education -
Certification Requirements: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred One of the following:
Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a
minimum score of 4.0 and a passing score on the EIPA written test
National Interpreter Certification (NIC) from the Registry of
Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), and a passing score on the EIPA
written test Additional state-specific requirements may apply
