Job Description Job Description Position Summary The Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT) provides counseling and supportive services to individuals experiencing substance use disorders under clinical supervision. This role supports client recovery through evidence-based practices, ASAM criteria, and compliance with Washington Administrative Code (WAC), while progressing toward full SUDP credentialing. Key Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling services while modeling healthy relationship and recovery skills Assist with ASAM assessments, treatment planning, placement decisions, and continuous stay criteria Document services accurately and timely in compliance with DOH and WAC standards Educate clients and families using lectures, written materials, and individualized tools Communicate client progress and needs with interdisciplinary teams and external agencies Respond appropriately to crisis situations, including emergency referrals when necessary Participate in clinical meetings, trainings, and supervision throughout the trainee period Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required Bachelor’s degree preferred (Associate degree acceptable with extended trainee hours) Experience: No substance misuse for at least 2 years prior to employment Bilingual candidates preferred New graduates welcome with appropriate degree and trainee credential eligibility.
