This position is located in one of the Districts of Transmission Field Services (TF), Transmission Services (T), of the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA).

A successful candidate in this position will serve as a one of the Managers, District Operations and Maintenance directs the work of the District; assumes accountability for the success of its programs, functions, and activities; and monitors the progress of the organization toward its goals and periodically evaluating.

As a District Operations and Maintenance Manager, you will:

  • Make major recommendations and decisions which have a direct and substantial effect on the organization and program elements managed.
  • Exercise delegated supervisory authorities and responsibilities, directing, coordinating, and overseeing the work and providing similar oversight of contractors when appropriate.
  • Set policy for the organization in such areas as determining program emphases and operating guidelines.
  • Exercise delegated managerial authority to set a series of annual and longer-range work plans and schedules for in-service and contracted work, independently of or jointly with higher management.
  • Make selections for subordinate non-supervisory positions, and recommend selections for subordinate supervisory positions.
  • Find and implement ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production, promote team building, improve business practices, or increase the quality of the work directed.

A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience leading, overseeing, and administering electrical transmission or distribution maintenance, operations, construction, or engineering support activities, such as line maintenance, substation operations, substation maintenance, protective relaying and control, communication systems or closely related electrical transmission or distribution activities to ensure safe and reliable operations.

There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-14 level.
