Analyst Job SummaryWe are currently seeking a LC/MS/MS PFAS Analyst
for establishing and managing a PFAS department at our Pasco,
Washington location (Columbia Basin Analytical Laboratories). A
successful candidate will have a background in environmental
science or chemistry and experience working with PFAS in an
analytical laboratory setting. Hands-on experience operating HPLC
tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) or HPLC high-resolution mass
spectrometry (HPLC-HRMS) systems is a plus. Working knowledge of
the various factors that lead to high data quality is required. We

needs.Responsibilities
Implement analytical methodologies,
acquire materials needed, perform standard preparation and
validation in accordance with regulatory requirementsIndependently
analyze environmental PFAS samples by LC/MS/MS, evaluate data for
acceptability, and produce data packagesEnter data and observations
into LIMSConduct and document appropriate quality control and
quality assurance procedures for monitoring and evaluating the
quality of analytical data, recognizing and highlighting deviations
from the approved methods, standard operating procedures, and
project plansPerform moderately complex mathematical calculations,
data analysis, and data manipulations, and prepare data for project
managers, as requestedOperate, monitor, and perform routine
maintenance on standard laboratory instruments such as
LC/MS/MSPrepare analytical standardsPreparation of dilutions of
analytical extractsPerform routine PFAS analysisDevelop methods for
non-routine PFAS analysisLead technical planning of analytical
tasks. Expected to take the initiative in solving technical
problemsManage laboratory deliverables and client deliverables to
meet project timelinesReports to Organics Department
managerRequirements and skills
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or
other physical science with minimum 8 years of experience in
chemistry laboratory workDemonstrate knowledge and understanding of
analytical methods and troubleshooting processes.Knowledge of
LC/MS/MS systems and operation.Experience in the analysis of
environmental PFAS samples by LC/MS/MS.Experience with
troubleshooting and maintaining LC and LC/MS/MS systems (Sciex
preferred, but not required)Proficiency in Microsoft
ExcelDemonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision or as
part of a team.Experience writing and reviewing SOPs Key
Qualifications
Master's degree in Chemistry or other
physical science with minimum 8 years of experience in chemistry
laboratory workDemonstrated experience in preparation of
environmental samples for chemical analysis.Experience with
extraction of PFAS drinking water EPA Method 537.1 and/or EPA
Method 533 and Method 1633Experience with extraction of PFAS from
non-potable water, solids, and tissues compliant with DoD QSM
5.3Experience with DoD Quality Systems Manual (QSM) 5.3 Table B-15
requirements for PFAS extraction and analysisExperience in the
analysis of environmental Pesticide/PCB samples by GC-MSExperience
developing new methodsExperience operating under national and state
