WESTERN STATES CAT TECHNICIAN PROGRAM The Western States CAT
Technician Program (WSCTP) is a Caterpillar-specific training
program created by Western States Equipment Company (WSECO) that is
offered in partnership with the College of Western Idaho (CWI). The
15 month program starts in June with 12 months of college classes
and labs at the CWI Micron Technical Education Center in Nampa, ID.
During the 12 month education program at CWI, students will
complete their general education requirements and will then learn
about engine fundamentals, machine hydraulics, fuel systems,
electrical systems, transmissions and torque converters,
undercarriage, final drives and more. WSCTP finishes up with a 3
month internship at one of our 12 branches located throughout
Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Montana and Wyoming. During the paid 3
month internship at WSECO, students will apply their learning
firsthand while working on equipment under the guidance of
experienced mentor technicians. Upon successful completion of
WSCTP, students will earn either an Advanced Technical Certificate
or an Associates of Applied Science Degree from CWI and have the
opportunity to join the WSECO family as full-time employees.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Knowledge and use of Microsoft computer products or other
comparable systems required. * Ability to develop and maintain
effective working relationships with others.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* High School diploma or GED. High school seniors getting ready to
graduate from high school are also eligible to apply.

completely. Once your application is submitted, you will be
contacted by the Technician Programs Manager. The Technician
Programs Manager will discuss the program in more detail and will
explain the next steps in the selection process which include the
following: * Applying for admission at CWI * Taking the Math &
Writing College Placement Tests * Scheduling a program selection
interview Successful candidates will be notified that they have
been accepted into the Program and after successfully completing
the pre-employment screening process and will be scheduled to start
WSCTP in June.
* Must be able to stand for long periods of time along with
walking, sitting, repetitive climbing of stairs, reaching
(including but not limited to above-shoulder reaching), repetitive
bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting. * Must
be able to lift up to 50 pounds. * Must be able to meet all safety
requirements for applicable safety policies. * Exposure to extreme
temperatures and environment. * Exposure to high noise level. *
Exposure to fumes.
