Job Description:
EAS has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and
enthusiastic Fisheries Technician to assist on a contract providing
Biological Services to the US Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla
District. We are currently looking to fill two part-time Fisheries
Technician roles at Ice Harbor Dam near Pasco, Washington for an
average of 8-12 hours per week. The pay for this position ranges
from $22.34 - $29.67 per hour and will be based on factors such as
experience, education, and location of the job site, plus an
additional $5.09 per hour towards health and welfare dollars. The
health and welfare dollars may be reduced if participating in
employer sponsored benefit plans. This position would start
mid-March and last through mid-July. Although this position is for
part-time work at Ice Harbor Dam there may be opportunities for
additional work at other sites including McNary, Little Goose and
Lower Granite Dams, depending on project needs. Why join us?

functions): Assist with sampling fish at USACE hydroelectric
projects, including juvenile salmonid and non-salmonid species
identification, look for fin clips, weigh, measure, identify
injuries and diseases on the fish. Accurately record information in
spreadsheets and collate and summarize information to write weekly
and annual reports on fish information. Conduct juvenile and adult
fishway inspections of the dam and fish facility to ensure
operations follow criteria as set forth in the USACE Fish Passage
Plan. Piscivorous avian predator identification. Produce an
accurate weekly report distributed to state and federal agencies.
Qualifications: Bachelor?s or Associate?s degree in a natural
resources field or a closely related discipline with relevant work
experience. Experience as a fisheries technician or biologist,
evaluating the health of juvenile salmonids. Experience with fish
handling. Experience with anesthetizing fish. Work experience at a
large hydroelectric project smolt collection facility. Experience
with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access) in Windows,
including generating tables from Excel, preparing data deliverables
and writing scientific reports in Word, and utilizing Access.
Ability to work independently. Ability to take direction and work
collaboratively with a wide range of personalities. Strong
organization skills and detail oriented. Ability to accurately
interpret and follow established protocols, guidelines, and
procedures. Ability to meet USACE requirements and security
clearances to work at dam sites on the Snake and Columbia rivers.
This includes about 8 hours of online training that must be
completed before the first on-site shift at a dam. Knowledge of
Snake and Columbia rivers fish species. Must be capable of lifting
up to 50 pounds, walking up to 5 miles per day, and working
outdoors in various weather conditions and around spiders/insects.
Must have reliable transportation and be able to commute to remote
locations, which is not compensated. Must be available to work
regularly scheduled shifts for the duration of the season (back-up
staffing is limited). Some overtime may be required. Must be
willing to start work in the early morning, (be onsite by 0630 and
work until the late morning or early afternoon) . Required to work
weekends and/or holidays. A typical schedule for this position is
Wednesday to Sunday. Ability to adapt to variable work schedules.
